This week we started the demolition works inside the existing rear of the property. First we dismantled the brick and block work to create the opening, This was to link the new extension to the existing kitchen and dining room.

As part of the internal demolition, the client requested that the existing fireplace and chimney breast was removed entirely from the ground floor through to the loft. The remainder of the chimney was supported on steel brackets. Both the existing doors in the dining room and the kitchen window were blocked up and the supporting kitchen wall removed to create the new open plan room design.

Once the supporting kitchen wall was removed another large steel had to be installed to support the upstairs of the property.

Everything in the kitchen was removed except for the sink, cooker, washing machine and boiler as our clients and their children were still living in the property throughout the build.
