Modern Refurbishment

New Driveway
Englefield Green, Surrey

The original tarmac driveway had started to crack and generally show it's age.

Having considered a number of driveway ideas, the owner concluded the

right driveway type for this house, was block pavers.

We dug up the old driveway, and a section of lawn to a depth of at least 150mm below the Damp Proof Course of the house, extending the parking area, and applying a gentle slope to

allow water to run off toward the roadway.

Block pavers were used to create a stable edge, and MOT type 1 hardcore aggregate

thoroughly compacted to form a good solid sub base of a least 125mm in depth.

A layer of fresh sharp sand was then applied, compacted and screeded to level.

Finally - block pavers were laid 12mm above the desired final level,

swept with fine, dry sand, and compacted down.
